First Ofsted Early Years report highlights importance of teaching and learning in pre-school settings

See the article published on 3 April 2014 on the National Literacy Trust website, which also has links to the Ofsted report: http://www.literacytrust.org.uk/news/5990_first_ofsted_early_years_report_highlights_importance_of_teaching_and_learning_in_pre-school_settings

Ofsted also published a companion piece on the topic of ‘readiness for school’, which sought to capture how early years providers can ensure disadvantaged children are better prepared to start school. Parents and carers were viewed by the best settings as integral to children’s behavioural, social and emotional development: http://www.ofsted.gov.uk/resources/are-you-ready-good-practice-school-readiness
