Free early years education to be extended

The National Literacy Trust website news reported that:

More children from low-income families will now qualify for free early years education. From next year around 40% of children aged two will be able to receive fifteen hours support a week.

20% of two-year-olds are already eligible for free childcare, and from next September this will be opened up to families that earn less than £16,190 per year and receive Working Tax Credits. Children who have been adopted, are in care or have a disability or special educational needs will also benefit. Parents can check whether they are eligible by contacting their local authority or children’s centre.
